Tour Overview

This itinerary extends the 7 night Heart of Wales tour with additional nights in Abergavenny and in Brecon. The routes take you east to the Welsh borders and follow part of the Radnor Ring national cycle route.

The tour starts with a two night stopover in Abergavenny. The loop ride from the town takes you to Monmouth, to Symonds Yat, and offers you the opportunity to visit Tintern Abbey. The next leg leads west following the Monmouth and Brecon Canal to the historic town of Brecon for a two night stopover. The loop ride from here explores the Brecon Beacons National Park. Leaving Brecon you follow the valley of the River Wye north via Builth Wells to Rhayader for a two night halt. The loop ride explores the Elan Valley, where you will see the rare red kite. Leaving Rhayader to the east you follow the Radnor Ring over remote terrain to Knighton. The next leg leads south to Hay-on-Wye for a two night halt. From Hay, the loop ride explores the Golden Valley. The final leg head south over Gospel Pass in the Vale of Ewyas, passing Llanthony Priory on the way back to Abergavenny.
